Shakori Hills Community Arts Center Announces Trail & Field Day with Southern Culture on the Skids

Local Arts Center plans full day of family fun,
the first of many summer activities

"Pittsboro, NC - The main stage and large tents have been packed up, the Spring Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival is over, but the grounds of the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center will not be quiet for long. The center's board, staff and volunteers have a full summer agenda planned and the first big event will be on June 11. The day begins with trail and field activities, attendees enjoying the beautiful 72 acre site, and will end with a concert from Southern Culture on the Skids.

The day kicks off at 1pm with a 5k run. For those not into long distances, there is a 1k Fun Run which begins at 2pm. After that, at 3, it's fun for all ages and abilities with an Obstacle Course, Long Jump, Egg Toss, 3-Legged Race and many other activities.

The field activities end at 5:30pm when the music begins, starting with opening act Fish Dad, a rock band formed through Girls Rock NC. The racous rock and roll of Southern Culture on the Skids will finish out the planned activities. Attendees are invited to spend the night and camp out under the stars - even to attend a garden workshop in their Community Garden on Sunday.

Food trucks will be on site, along with local beer selections and other snacks and treats. People are urged to bring cups or bottles to consume tapped well-water (no plastic bottles will be sold), and asked to please purchase other drinks and food on site (rather than bringing in coolers). Food and drink proceeds go to supporting the SHCAC.
