Crime Stoppers Tip Leads to Arrest in NewBridge Bank Robbery

"GREENSBORO, NC (May 22, 2015) – A Crime Stoppers tip led to the arrest of a man accused of robbing the downtown NewBridge Bank yesterday.

Patrick Jimel Hopkins, 47, is charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon for obtaining an undisclosed amount of money from the NewBridge Bank at 210 N. Elm St. in Greensboro.

Hopkins became a person of interest in the investigation following information provided to Crime Stoppers after the organization published a flyer containing security camera pictures of the person who passed a note to a teller demanding money.

Officials became aware of the robbery at approximately 1:40 pm on May 21 when the bank’s alarm monitoring service contacted Guilford Metro 911 about the incident.

Responding patrols, detectives, and K9, were unable to locate the suspect.

Hopkins was taken into custody without incident at approximately 12:30 pm today at a business on High Point Rd.

Hopkins is currently being processed into the Greensboro Jail Central."
